My name is Antonio García Galera, Master Blacksmith with over 30 years of experience, although in my field most people know me as Forjamam.
At first glance, my nickname might seem misspelled—many correct it to ForjamaN—but it’s not a mistake. It comes from Forja (Forge in Spanish), and MAM are the initials of myself, my wife, and my daughters.
I started forging at the age of 16. Later on, I discovered the art of Damascus steel and from the first moment I knew I had to learn how to make one of those knives that fascinated me so much. I still remember when I forged my first knife—a piece full of imperfections that, although I enjoyed making, kept me on edge for quite some time. There were many new techniques, many hours, and countless hammer strikes.
Today, many people trust me to create unique and personalized pieces that I craft with care for each of my clients. I’ve shipped knives both nationally and internationally.
I am the first Spaniard to create Damascus using non-ferrous metals such as copper or titanium.
Due to the lack of tools for knifemaking, I had to forge my own and build my own machinery, which is now also supplied to others in the trade or to those just starting out in the world of forging.
In 2018, I began teaching others interested in this craft with in-person courses in my workshop. People come from all over to enjoy and experience the process of forging their own knife, axe, tool, or learning the art of Damascus steel.
