Design & background

There are knife makers. There are knife makers who are true artists. And then there is Stefan Steigerwald – the ‘mad professor’ of the knife world. His Arronax Brass, developed in cooperation with Bastards Knives, is a tribute to retrofuturistic aesthetics and precision engineering. Inspired by Jules Verne’s 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, this slip joint pocket knife looks as if Captain Nemo himself had designed it.

Variants & special features

The Arronax is available in two variants – here is the brass version with brass handle scales and a satin-finished D2 blade. The combination of warm brass, precise flat grind and artistic serrations makes this knife a real eye-catcher for collectors and fans of special EDC items.

Blade & steel

The 7.6 cm long sheepfoot blade is made of proven D2 tool steel and has a satin finish. The flat grind delivers precise, controlled cuts — ideal for fine work on deck, in the studio or in everyday life. D2 offers very good wear protection and, with proper care, is a reliable everyday steel.

Handle & Workmanship

The brass handle scales bear Steigerwald’s unmistakable signature: Art Deco elements meet industrial, textured hollows. Milled holes in front of the pivot screw are reminiscent of old steam engines and reinforce the nautical look. The hardware and a clever pivot lock on the clip side round off the mechanical look.

Mechanics & closure

Designed as a slip joint, the Arronax Brass is compliant and legal to carry in many countries. The blade opens with the characteristic “walk & talk” feel — no locking mechanism, but springy precision and tactile elegance.

Clip, carrying comfort & scope of delivery

The innovative clip with an underlying spring works like a small seesaw: simply press, insert — the knife sits securely without hanging or scratching. Despite its robust appearance, the Arronax remains comfortably portable at 100 g. Included in delivery are a microfibre cloth and a robust pouch with patch area.

Once you have selected the products you wish to purchase from the website, these products will have been added to your shopping basket, and you will then have to process the order and make the payment for these products. To process the order, you must follow the steps indicated on the website, duly filling in and checking the information requested in each step. You may modify the details of your order at any time during the processing of the order, prior to payment.

When you place an order on the website, you must pay the full amount of your order (including the amount of the products, applicable taxes and the amount of the shipping costs). You also expressly authorise us to issue the invoice in electronic form, although you may at any time receive a paper invoice, in which case we will issue and send the invoice in that format. At no time will we be able to see or have access to your card details, as transactions are carried out using advanced security protocols. BASTARDS KNIVES only receives confirmation from the bank of the payment made by you.

  • DEADLINES AND PLACE OF DELIVERY

BASTARDS KNIVES undertakes to deliver the product to the address you indicate in the order form within Spain. In order to optimise delivery, please indicate an address to which the order can be delivered during normal working hours.

BASTARDS KNIVES will not be liable for delivery errors caused when the delivery address entered by you in the order form does not correspond to reality or when data necessary for delivery has been omitted.

BASTARD KNIVES will execute accepted orders with due speed, but at the latest within 30 days, unless a longer delivery period has been agreed.

If the delivery takes longer than the indicated delivery time, or if an order cannot be carried out or can only be partially carried out, you will be informed of this circumstance and we will give you the option to continue with the purchase by setting a new delivery date or the option to cancel the order, totally or partially, with a full refund of the price paid for the purchase of that product.

If delivery of the product is impossible, the order will be returned to our warehouse. We will also send you a communication explaining where your order is and how to have it reshipped (which may incur additional costs).

In the event that the order has not been delivered for reasons not attributable to BASTARD KNIVES, we will contact you and, if 30 days after we have placed the order at your disposal you have not collected it or you refuse to receive it, it will be considered abandoned and BASTARD KNIVES will be able to dispose of it.

For the purposes of these Conditions, delivery shall be deemed to have occurred at the time when you or a third party indicated by you acquires possession of the goods. This will be evidenced by the signature of the receipt of the order at the delivery address agreed when placing your order.

The risks of the products shall be borne by you from the time of delivery.

You will acquire ownership of the goods when we receive full payment of all amounts due in respect of the goods, including delivery charges, or at the time of delivery, whichever is the later.
