The idea – Matteo Morini’s vision
The XERXES Natural Micarta is the result of an extraordinary collaboration. The original idea came from Italian designer Matteo Morini (2mEDC), who has been known for years for his innovative knife designs. For him, knives are not just tools, but an expression of personality, passion, and craftsmanship.
Matteo describes it this way:
“It was born to be a pocket fixed blade as usable and light as possible. Pointy, thin, and slicey, it’s probably not a workhorse, but it can take some use.”
With this vision in mind, he designed a knife that is compact, sharp, and elegant—a companion for everyday use without compromising on design.

Persian-style blade – inspired and unique
The blade of the XERXES is deeply rooted in Persian knife culture. Matteo explains:
“The original shape of the Xerxes should hint at the origin of its name. Yep, a bit banal maybe, but it was too much of a Persian blade to pass up…”
This inspiration is reflected in the tapered geometry and elegant lines. Made from high-quality CPM-3V steel, the blade impresses with its extreme toughness and long-lasting sharpness.
With a blade length of 7.6 centimeters, it is compact enough for everyday use, but at the same time strong enough to handle precise cutting tasks with ease.
Handle design made of natural canvas micarta
The screwed canvas micarta handle scales are not only functional, but also part of the design philosophy. They offer a secure grip, even when wet, and develop a distinctive patina over time.
This makes every XERXES a unique knife that ages together with its owner – exactly as Matteo imagined it.
Leather sheath – safe and flexible
The knife comes with a custom-made leather sheath with a sturdy metal clip. This allows the XERXES to be carried classically on a belt or discreetly stowed away in a pocket. Quickly accessible, securely fastened, and stylishly protected.

When Matteo saw the finished knife for the first time, he was overwhelmed:
“Lookie what just came in time for Fixed Blade Friday! I’m over the moon with the final product, the quality is stunning and they are exactly like I’ve pictured them!”
