Carlos Queirós is a Portuguese craftsman and part-time knifemaker based in Viana do Castelo, Portugal. With a strong family heritage in artisanal trades, he began his professional journey working in his family’s jewelry business and later continued the legacy by taking over his late father’s company. Over the years, he has pursued various creative side projects—most notably in handmade crafts.
In 2016, Carlos discovered his passion for knifemaking, initially as a hobby driven by curiosity. Fascinated by the intricacy and mechanical challenge of folding knives, he soon committed himself to mastering the craft. Inspired by makers who develop their own mechanisms, Carlos created his own proprietary locking system—the TRS mechanism—a major milestone in his career.
Specializing in artistic folding knives, Carlos is dedicated to designing and crafting one-of-a-kind pieces. He works with a variety of materials, including rare and eccentric choices, meticulously shaping each knife from the initial sketch to the final finish. His process emphasizes originality and craftsmanship, transforming raw steel into functional works of art.
As the founder of Queirós Knives, Carlos has earned international recognition for his unique designs and technical innovation. He was awarded “Most Innovative Design” at Blade Show Atlanta 2024 and received “Best of Show” at SICAC Paris in September 2024—two of the most prestigious honors in the world of artistic cutlery. His work is admired by collectors and enthusiasts worldwide, each piece reflecting a philosophy of authenticity, precision, and creativity.
Outside the workshop, Carlos enjoys riding bikes, drawing, and playing guitar—often to the sounds of his favorite music genres: rock, grunge, and progressive metal.
