My passion for knifemaking began in childhood, when carrying a pocket knife was part of my everyday life in close contact with the countryside. In the late 1980s, I started restoring knife and pocket-knife handles, and by the late 1990s I began crafting my first pieces. At that time, information was scarce, so I had to research materials, steels, types of leather, and techniques on my own through forums and direct contacts.
In the early 2000s, I began working on commission for collectors and hunters, designing custom knives (made to order), and in 2004 I took part in my first local fairs. From 2008 onwards, I attended professional knifemaking fairs at a national level.
I have had the honor of crafting knives for many of the most renowned chefs in the Basque Country, including several with Michelin stars. I have always paid close attention not only to the beauty of each piece, but also to its ergonomics and functionality.
For seven years, I ran my own shop, selling both handmade and industrial knives. I served as president of the ACAE (Spanish Association of Artisan Knifemakers) for four years, during which time the association organized the Madrid Knife Fair until 2019.
From 2020 to 2024, the fair continued independently thanks to the joint initiative of Carlos Merino, J.M. Galocha, and myself. In 2025, I was unable to continue due to health reasons, with the intention of resuming it when possible.I have designed knives for several brands in the sector, contributing my vision from both an aesthetic and functional perspective. In recent years, I have specialized in the creation of handcrafted folding knives, and I rarely accept commissions, as for me each piece is like a painting for a painter: a unique work born from creative impulse.
In addition, I have published four books on knifemaking, which have served as guides and references for many artisans and enthusiasts.
